Transmit Diversity Weight Generation for Wireless Fdd Systems with Feedback
نویسندگان
چکیده
Transmit diversity techniques provide attractive solutions for increasing downlink capacity in 3G systems within lowmobility environments. Open-loop and closed-loop transmit diversity modes with two transmit antennas have already been included into 3GPP WCDMA Release 4, and schemes exploiting a larger number of transmit antennas are being developed. System capacity can be increased from that of open–loop modes if the transmitter is equipped with additional side information of the downlink channel. In a frequency division duplex (FDD) system this means that the receiver has to provide the information through some feedback mechanism. In this paper we give two feedback signal designs and an algorithm to design corresponding transmit weights utilizing linear functions of order statistics of the underlying random process. This provides a simple tool to design closed– loop transmit diversity systems depending on the feedback capacity of the system and propagation environment.

Performance of Transmit Time Selection Diversity in Multipath Fading Channels
We examine transmit time selection diversity (TTSD) concept, where downlink transmission is suspended if the received SNR in the mobile station falls below a given threshold. In case of FDD systems, this requires a fast feedback channel from mobile to base like the one in the FDD WCDMA system. Bit error probability formulas are derived showing that TTSD is able to provide gains up to several de...
متن کاملPerformance Simulation of 3G Closed Loop Transmit Diversity Systems
It is well known that the third generation partnership project (3GPP) for WCDMA FDD has chosen Space Time Transmit Diversity (STTD) (known also as open loop transmit diversity) and Feedback Mode Transmit Diversity (FBTD) (known also as closed loop transmit diversity) as transmit diversity techniques for two transmit antennas. In this paper, we look into the performance of closed loop transmit d...
متن کاملEnhancing massive MIMO: A new approach for Uplink training based on heterogeneous coherence time
Massive MIMO is one of the key technologies in future generation networks. Owing to their considerable spectral and energy efficiency gain, massive MIMO systems provide the needed performance to cope with the ever increasing wireless capacity demand. Nevertheless, the number of scheduled users stays limited in massive MIMO systems both in TDD and FDD modes. This is due to the limited time slot ...

متن کاملSpace-Time Coding for UMTS. Performance Evaluation in Combination with Convolutional and Turbo Coding
Space-time codes provide both diversity and coding gain when using multiple transmit antennas to increase spectral efficiency over wireless communications systems. Space-time block codes have already been included in the standardization process of UMTS in conjunction with conventional channel codes (convolutional and turbo codes). We discuss different encoding and decoding strategies when trans...
